When launching Lync 2013, after the splash screen and in the background is the sign in screen, I get an error "Microsoft Lync has stopped working."
I am unable to press the cancel button.

Restarting doesn't help.
I have done a "quick repair" as well as the "full repair" of Office and it did not resolve the issue.
I have deleted the \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook folder.
I have deleted the sip_<user> folder in \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync.
I can create a new profile on this same workstation and sign in, it works perfectly fine. So it's something in my Windows profile or something buried in the registry.
Suggestions? Other than creating a new Windows profile on this workstation?
