Hi All,
I am a desktop engineer. In the last few months we migrated from OCS to Lync for the Server and the Clients. We have been documenting issue and solutions as we go along.
One of the issues we have found is when end users get ready to set the Personal Identification Number (PIN) by going to the Gear Icon, selecting Tools amd then "Dial-in Conferencing Settings" that the option to sign in to set the PIN is missing.
The screen shows: "Dial-in Conferencing Settings and PIN Management" and then shows "Conference Dial-in Numbers". The whole "Personal Identification Number (PIN)" and Sign In" is missing.
What we have been doing to solve the issue is resetting the browser. Tool | Internet Options| Advanced Tab, under "Reset Internet Explorer settings" and selecting <Reset...>. This has been working, though it messes up the Local Trusted Sites and we have to re-add them, it still works.
Now today I tried with an end user and no luck. I was so confident that I could resolve the issue and then a little frustrated that I couldn't.
The end user had IE7 and Mozilla installed. I made sure that IE7 was the default browser. Cleaned out temp files. Decided to upgrade to IE8, no harm in doing so, but it still didn't fix the issue. I even reset the browser again after IE8 (and after a reboot) with no luck. This particular end user is on Windows XP, IE8 and using Lync 2010.
After the upgrade I found that two Lync Add-ons were disabled, re-enabled them, still no go.
The last thing I tried was logging in as myself to the end users Lync client just to make sure it wasn't an ID issue instead of a browser issue. That didn't work either. Even using my ID the PIN sign-in is missing. So it is definetely a local PC issue.
I have NOT tried uninstalling or reinstalling Lync yet. My thought behind that is the fact that we are launching a browser window so why would it actually be a Lync client issue verses a browser issue. Since this is all related to Lync I have posted it here instead of over on the browser tech forum.
Any thoughts? I tried searching Google, but maybe I am not using the right terms, I am just not getting any hits related to this issue.
