Hi all,
We have a strange issue going on at our University. We have some staff who have recently got a new PC with a brand new software image of Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit, Office 2013 and Lync 2013. These staff have 2 problems on their new PC's
1. The Conversation History in Outlook is not populating with any new content since they replaced their old PC with this new one.
2. The Phone tab of Lync will not show the Voicemail section in the bottom half of the Window.
We have done some tests and we have found the following:
1. User has a machine with a fresh install of Office 2013 SP1 which includes Lync 2013 will all Office and Lync Service Packs and Patches from Windows Update.
2. User starts Outlook and Lync and sends IM from Lync to a user.
3. Conversation History in Outlook does not populate. Also Voicemail section In Lync on Phone Tab is missing.
4. User does a complete uninstall of Office 2013 SP1 which includes Lync.
5. If the user now does a reinstall of Office 2013 SP1 which includes Lync and then runs Lync and Outlook the conversation History and Voicemail options still do not work.
6. If the user does a reinstall of Office 2013 without SP1 but does not open Lync and Outlook and then goes to Windows Update and downloads all the Office and Lync patches and updates and then runs Outlook and Lync Conversation History and Voicemail options do not work.
7. If the user does a reinstall of Office 2013 without SP1, then runs Outlook and Lync once. Conversation History works and the Voicemail option appears. User then closes them and then downloads all the patches and updates for Office and Lync and then runs Outlook and Lync again and Conversation History and Voicemail options continue to work.
8. There appears to be something that needs Outlook and Lync to be run once prior to installing the updates to get the fix to work correctly. We suspect some bug with SP1 for Office 2013.
Any further suggestions or thoughts on how to fix this?
Thanks,
Greg
