Hello everyone,
I have kind of an obscure question that might seem a bit vague. We are in process of moving to Lync but still using OCS for the time being. We have been troubleshooting random disconnects with OCS on both PCs and Macs. The PCs will auto-reconnect after a period of time but the Mac client has to be re-connected manually causing frustration for our users.
I am trying to find out what triggers and events might cause OCS to disconnect by design. For example, I am assuming that switching IPs (like from wired to wireless) might trigger a disconnect? Since it is a real time protocol, I am also assuming that even the smallest network blip might cause a disconnect? Does OCS have some sort of re-authentication it has to do periodically that would trigger a brief loss of connectivity? What about roaming between wireless APs? Could this also create disconnects? These might seem like questions that have obvious answers, but I am trying to get a clearly defined list of things that would cause disconnects by design so that I can set expectations with my customers while I continue to troubleshoot and see if there is an underlying problem creating connectivity loss that isn't "normal as expected" behavior. Any answers you can give me so that I can clearly define expected OCS connection behavior is much appreciated. Thank you!
