Unable to Add Other Person with Lync Account from Different Company

Hello,

I was unable to add my wife's lync account from my lync ? is there any way or whats causing.

although i was able add her lync account from my skype.

Please suggest if need to open any port from network to make my lync communicate with her lync account?

We both work for different companies.
