Like others it seems a recent update has caused Lync to continuously crash after it starts and connects. I installed a lot of updates on Monday this week. Before this Lync would work perfectly all day every day. After installing the updates Lync does not work at all. This is a Windows 8.1 Enterprise (non update 1), 64bit Dell laptop.
I've completed the following:
- Completed a simple and thorough repair of Office
- Uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled Office (downloaded from O365 portal)
- Trawled error logs and I have a SideBySide error which indicates that something is referencing AMD64 but I have x86 installed
- I do have SharePoint Designer 2007 and 2010 installed, although all are 32 bit
- I don't have any other version of Office
- Uninstalled the latest Lync 2013 updates installed by Windows Update - KB2899507
From doing some research there are certainly other people who have the same error as me. I also see some people have fixed it by completing a repair of Windows, I'm not able to do this and I think is just masking the error which will no doubt happen again.
Anyone from Microsoft able to offer any actual fixes for this?
