I have some users that are having serious presence problems with other users, usually in a different pool.
Situation:
US has an EE pool and that is where Directors, Edges, etc. are. Regional pools are SE with an Edge server for media (US being the main Edge pool). Some regional users (not all) are having trouble getting presence from US users internally. The servers are at CU7.
Here are some messages coming in from the US pool to the client that I grabbed from the non-working client logs that could be telling:
"SIP/2.0 409 Conflict" messages with the following diagnostics information:
ms-diagnostics: 2044;reason="Publication version out of date";source="AFFECTEDUSERSPOOL"
SUBSCRIBE requests are sent to the US pool but the following is returned to affected users:
SIP/2.0 504 Server time-out message with the following diagnostics information:
ms-diagnostics: 2;reason="See response code and reason phrase";AppUri="http://www.microsoft.com/LCS/SipStack";source="AFFECTEDUSERSPOOL"
The affected clients are at 4.0.7577.4109. However, working clients are at this version too. We were planning to push CU7 soon. Yes, we tend to lag on updates a bit.
Interstingly if we have a non-working user login to a working user's machine they still have the issue. However, the working user works on both machines. Also, if we move a non-working user to the US pool everything works fine but when we move them back to their regional pool the problem occurs again. That of course seems to indicate it is probably both user and pool specific but (possibly) not client specific.
I applied CU7 to an affected client and that did not help. Next I will likely apply the patch for Lync 2010 that recently came out that happens to include CU8.
I also deleted all local certificates, cache files, etc. on an affected client and that did not help either.
To add a little complexity there were a number of security updates pushed to the clients starting today (when the problem appears to have started, BTW). The list of patches is below. Any ideas or tips are appreciated because my fear is this is going to get worse. Thanks.
