Can't respond to automated prompts when using phone

We are using Polycom VVX500 and CX600 phones with Lync 2010.  When we place a call to certain phone numbers with auto attendants, we are unable to select choices because the buttons don't beep when pressed.  Other phone numbers with auto attendants work as expected with both phones.  If we call directly from Lync it works fine.  Has anyone seen this issue before?
