Office Communicator inserts (file://...) in network location

Not sure whether there is a solution to this.

When I type a network folder address in my Office Communicator (e.g. \\XXXX\YYYY\11 22 33\ZZZZ) and there is a natural line break in the chat box in the middle of the network folder address (e.g. in the middle of 11 and 22, Communicator will insert (file://XXXX/YYYY/11) in the middle of the link.

So in my chat box it looks like:
\\XXXX\YYYY\11 
22 33\ZZZZ

But Communicator will send:
\\XXXX\YYYY\11 (file://XXXX/YYYY/11)
22 33\ZZZZ

or

\\XXXX\YYYY\11

(file://XXXX/YYYY/11) 22 33\ZZZZ

I suppose it's some added automation for convenience, but it really disrupts trying to communicate file and folder locations to my colleagues. Can this feature be disabled?
