I am looking for a bit of advice on an issue I am experiencing. We have a client who has the following setup affecting one of their branch sites:
- Central Site containing a Lync 2010 Std Front End and Edge Server
- Branch Site containing a Lync SBS Server
- Site to Site VPN Connectivity between the sites via SonicWALL Site to Site VPN
- Branch site has 4-5 Polycom CX600 Handsets
- Branch site has ADSL connectivity providing around 6Mbps
We are having call quality issues when users at the branch site call users at the central site and vice versa. It is my understanding that the traffic will be getting sent over the IPSec Site to Site VPN where it will get encrypted for a second time. I am keen to try and stop the Lync traffic from going over the VPN.
At this point I have excluded the IP addresses of the CX600 phones from being able to traverse the VPN but when doing this they fail to register. Should they still work of am I missing something.
If the VPN is needed what can we do with this setup to resolve the issues.
