Hi all, I’m seeing a strange behaviour with the sound attenuation/ducking feature in Windows 7 and Lync and wondered if anybody else had experienced and/or has any ideas about it. This feature reduces the volume of non-communication audio streams (by 50,80 or 100% according to your preference) when it detects a communication device being used.
However it seems to reduce the volume of Lync as well, and I don’t understand why it would do that or what the point of it is.
So for example I set the 'ducking' to 100% (select the “Mute all other sounds” on the Communications tab in the sound control panel), then somebody rings me. As soon as the phone starts ringing, the volume slider for Lync in my volume mixer drops to 0 and the phone goes silent. It seems a bit random but on some occasions I also can’t hear the person on the other end of the phone.
When I hang up, the volume slider goes back up again.
Is that how it is supposed to work or have I just got it all horribly wrong?
Any ideas very gratefully received.
Thanks,
John
