Lync's Share Desktop Feature is slow

I am using Lync for Mac version 14.0.9. The desktop screen share is too slow. On average, the screen refreshes about 10 seconds late. This makes it unusable.

The problem occurs with anyone I try to desktop screen share with (both mac and windows). I have tried completely removing Lync and re-installing using this guide: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2691870/en-us. I don't think this issue is related to bandwidth. I can successfully use other screen share products (WebEx and Google) without performance problems.

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
