Hi All,
I know that this feature is not used on Lync Server 2010 but I am trying to find a workaround to make this happen. The management of my company wants to have International calls enabled for a couple common area phones. But they want to use a PIN code or
password to make an international call and give this code to some specific people. I have HP 4110 common area phones and HP 4120. I've also asked HP if they have a feature to lock the phone so everytime somebody wants to make a call they can enter
a code and unlock the phone before they make a call but it's not possible.
I just want to have some advices from you all to make this happen or if it's not possible at all, at least I can convince our management team. Basically we would like to use a PIN code or password to make a call. Is this possible
somehow? Maybe using a 3rd party software?

CRASHED: Microsoft has stopped working error!
Dear all,
Recently, I have installed Microsoft Lync 2013 32-bit on my Lenovo K2450 Windows 7 laptop. It has never been run before on this laptop. When I tried opening it, the following message "Microsoft Lync has stopped working" is displayed and closes unexpectedly.
Other Microsoft programs like Excel, Powerpoint 2013 works fine. I have looked up similar topics on this forum and tried the methods below but still encountered the same error.
E.g. - tried disabling/uninstalling Bluetooth driver
- uninstalling Microsoft Lync 2013 and reinstalling it back
- repairing Microsoft Lync 2013 and restarting
Any help will be greatly appreciated! Any suggestions I will be happy to test/try it out. Thank you in advance!
Here's the error message:

Lync 2013 - keeps prompting that Outlook 2013 cannot be started despite Outlook 2013 working perfectly well
Office 2013 x64 on Windows 7 x64 - question asked already in Office365 forums and I was redirected here by an admin
I am running office 2013 and Lync2013 - everything works just fine expect that Lync keeps insisting that Outlook cannot be started. It is clearly Lync that is producing the error as the dialog box has the Lync Icon etc.
It gives me options to repair/help/close. Repair does not repair anything (nothing happens), help is unhelpful and close simply closes the dialog box. Any ideas here? I have nothing in the event log that gives me a clue and I have uninstalled and reinstalled Lync twice now with reboots in between.
Lync's Share Desktop Feature is slow
I am using Lync for Mac version 14.0.9. The desktop screen share is too slow. On average, the screen refreshes about 10 seconds late. This makes it unusable.
The problem occurs with anyone I try to desktop screen share with (both mac and windows). I have tried completely removing Lync and re-installing using this guide: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2691870/en-us. I don't think this issue is related to bandwidth.
I can successfully use other screen share products (WebEx and Google) without performance problems.
Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
Lync 2011 (Mac) + Outlook 2011 (Mac) = High CPU Activity
Let's set the groundwork:
Mac OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)
Lync 2011 14.0.4 (also seen with 14.0.2 and 14.0.3)
Outlook 2011 14.3.1
When Lync and Outlook are run concurrently Lync 2011 will, after a brief period of time, report extremely high CPU utilization (over 150% CPU on a Core i7 CPU). At the same time, Outlook 2011 will report high (40% and above) CPU usage. Threads used by Lync
2011 will go up to about 85 (from 24 when running by itself).
During this time Lync will remain responsive, but Outlook 2011 will be effectively unresponsive (command-Q will quit Outlook after a delay of 10-15 seconds). Inspecting the Lync or Outlook process via Activity Monitor will show abnormally large numbers of Mach
Messages, System Calls, and Context Switches.
Quitting either Lync or Outlook will return CPU utilization and other indicators to normal levels.
This behavior has been going on for several months. It's not a crashing issue, but it makes it impossible to run Lync and Outlook at the same time.
I've deleted and rebuilt ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/. I've done a clean re-install of Mac OS X on my Mac. I've confirmed that another user in my company is seeing the same behavior on their computer. I've also read the other threads here: this is not the"I had 10K messages in my Deleted Items folder" error - I've long cleared that. My total Exchange Server storage is 610MB, with the largest single subfolder at 100MB (1,569 items). Inbox is typically between 75 and 300 items, with no subfolders.
No other processes report abnormal CPU usage during this time. This includes Microsoft Database Daemon and mdworker (Spotlight). I am using Activity Monitor to view All Processes, not simply My Processes.
This is not transitory. Once the high CPU utilization phase begins, it's been seen to go on for as long as 20 minutes (at which point I gave up and quit processes) - so it's not just a "spike" from an indexing process.
I had high hopes for the Lync 14.0.4 update, but the issue remains. Any assistance would be appreciated.

FQDN of lync 2010 FE pool
Hello,
Scenario:
ocs2007 FE with access edge
Lync 2010 server FE pool
I want to know the FQDN of each server in Lync FE pool. How do I do this?
From OCS I see the name of the lync 2010 pool but not the servers. I would like to log into the lync server and extract the topology.
Thanks,
Alexis

Many contacts have status' that are vastly inaccurate.
As an example one contact is saying offline for 31 days, but I talked to the contact only 2 days ago.
Is this an issue with my local client or a global Lync server problem?
Incoming calls adjust computer volume unwarranted
A few times in the past I've tried to use "supported devices" with my Mac and newest version of Lync via USB. This didn't work since you still needed to register the devices independently through the device itself (Polycom CX600, Snom 821, etc.) instead of through Lync like you can with the PC version... (that's another sad story of Microsoft's software claims!)
To get to the root of this issue, now that I no longer use any USB connected devices with Lync, I cannot get the software to STOP adjusting my system's audio levels upon incoming calls. I currently use a standalone phone device for phone calls. The software
still shows a "Custom Device" attached and the only selection under "Audio Device Settings" and there's no way to de-select it or turn it off.

Lync in combination with Plantronics P540-M: Display changes to logographic character set
Hello,
I've recently started to use Lync on my iMac 21,5" from 2011. Now the program itself works fine until i connect a Plantronics P540-M usb phone. Lynn keeps operating as it should apart from the fact that the display on the Plantronics phone changes to some sort of asian character set. I'm using Lync version 14.0.10.
Does anyone recognise this problem and have a solution for this?

Lync Client 2013 Can not find EWS-servers
Hi everybody.
I have just installed a new domain with Exchange 2013 and Lync Server 2013, my clients are running w8.1 with lync 2013 basic.
When i log in with the clients it is possible to use every function not directly combined with exchange, like chat, video, voice.
The problem is that i get a error saying Lync and Exchange is not making a connection.
EWS internal and external is not filled out on the lync clients
I have checked with the EMC for the internal URL and it lists out only the internalurl, wich is fine since its only a test environment
I can access it from all the domain computers through the web-browser.
I have also created a auto-discovery on the internal DNS but the client still cant contact the Exchange server.
New host A or AAA
Host:autodiscover
FQDN: autodiscover.domain.xx
IP: exchangeservers ip
As you probably already know i am quite new to this, it is my first time setting up a lync server.
For the record i used this guide deploying my Lync server.
http://windowspbx.blogspot.no/2012/07/step-by-step-installing-lync-server.html
My question is, how do i make Lync client discover the EWS, and is it working correctly ?
Growing Background Noise?
I have a desk-top arrangement which was previously used with good success on Communicator, but is not workable with Lync. The arrangement is aseperate USB Microphone and generic PC speakers.
While this seperate mic and speaker worked as well as PolyCom or Chat speake/mic's on Communicator, it has a severe problem when used with Lync. The symptom is this... When the far-side of call goes quiet, I begin to hear white-noise from my speaker. The longer the far end is quiet, the louder the white-noise on my end. As soon as someone on the far end speaks up, the white-noise goes silent, only to build again when things go quiet on the far end.
If I switch to any of the integrated speaker/microphones, this problem is gone.
I have heard that one of my collegues has a similar problem with a particular headset.
I'm suspicious that this has something to do with Lync's "Comfort Noise" feature, but I can't find anything on the forums to support my suspicion.
Lync 2011 on Mac - force online meetings to user client, NOT web app
Can Lync2013 Gallery View as default be overridden on a particular client?
I would like disable Gallery View on specific client machines. Is there a relatively straightforward way to do this such as Policy Editor, registry entry, or perhaps PowerShell calls to Lync SDK? Would rather not have to write something for Lync2013 in UI Suppression Mode...
Thanks!
Access Level Management for Lync2013
In Microsoft Communicator 2007, there was an option to set the 'Access Level Management' as a global setting. Is this feature still available in Lync 2013 apart from setting the 'Access Levels' for each contact individually.
Since we migrated from Microsoft Communicator 2007 to Lync2013 and we needed to change some 'Access Levels', I wasn't able to do so. So would like to check if this feature can be enabled or disabled at the global level.
Thanks. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Polycom Group Series video resolutions in Lync conference
I've noticed that two Polycom Group series devices that have the Lync Interop licence installed provide good quality (1080p) video calls when making a point to point lync call but if the same two devices connect by joining a Lync conference, by joining via a calendar appointment for example, the resolution drops to 640x368
I documented my findings in a quick blog
http://1plex.co.uk/polycom-group-series-testing-lync-2013/
anyone been successful getting the devices to connect at a better resolution?
