Increase Ringer Volume on Lync Phone Edition Devices

We have deployed Lync Server 2010 and Lync Edition Phones (Standalone IP - NO computer) into a high noice environment.   The ringer volume levels and ringtones are designed for office space areas and even at its peak you are not able to hear the device ring.   We have worked with Polycom on this issue and it seems to be controlled by Microsoft and not the phone vendor.  We need a ringer volume that can standout in a area with noice in the 85-90dB range.   We have looked at a solution by Algo called an ALGO alerter 8180 which works great but is not supported for direct connection to Lync so we would have to put up another SIP PBX to connect these devices or pay for a 3rd party SIP register.

In the past we did use SNOM devices which had a louder ringer, but overall we were not happy with SNOM devices.

If someone knows if MS will be allowing custom ring tones or the ability to increase volume or has come up with a creative way to get ringer volume high enough for a standalone lync phone edition device to work in a noice environment.

Using Lync Client for conference room

hi all,

We have a conference room which has been enriched  by some motion sensors. We are searching for a way, when the room is in use (light are on and sensor pulse On), change a Lync client presence to busy, and when the motions pulse Off or some thing else, change the presence to Available.

Note that, We have a C# developer team to write any code, if is needed.

have you any idea?

Polycom CX5000 - Lync 2013 microphone problem

We have a problem with a large number of CX5000's where the devices work for a period of time after powering on but then after a random period of time (hours or sometimes days) the microphone stops working. The user will typically connect their laptop to the CX5000 and join a Lync 2013 call, the video works fine and we can hear the remote party but they cannot hear us. Power cycling the CX5000 solves the problem for the next few hours/days.

The organisation has 300 - 400 of these devices deployed globally and reports problems from all offices.

There is a mix of HD and SD devices and all have the latest available firmware installed (1.6.5 - HD, 1.5.5029 SD)

We have tried factory resetting the devices and then re-installing the latest firmware but the problem still occurs.

I have heard through Polycom Support that this problem is affecting at least one other Enterprise customer, is anyone else seeing the problem?

Its proving very difficult to diagnose the problem due to the lack of logging available. As we make any progress I'll post back updates but if anyone else has seen this problem too it would be good to understand if you resolved it.

Change the Lync settings so that the body of the conversation does not pop up first?

Hi,

when my colleagues gets an IM, they see "xxx is inviting you to a conversation". In my Lyncthe conversation itself pops up on my screen right away (i.e., if someone sends me "Hi", I will see "Hi", while they will see "xxx is inviting you...".

How can I set the same configuration for me as well?

Japanese shows as boxes on Lync

I tried to type Japanese on Lync and it comes up as square boxes. Why is that? Any way to fix this?

kicked off when tried to join the lync meeting

hi there,

We have one user has Lync problem when he tried to join the lync meeting.

He has Lync 2010 client installed on his system and no problem to join the lync meeting before today.

he clicked the lync link which called Skype meeting now from his outlook calendar as normal, it started Lync 2010 and login the meeting, once he saw the all the meetings attendees, the lync kicked him off automatically in less one sec. I uninstall/re-install the lync 2010 on his laptop and no changes. but once I uninstall it, he can join the meeting by lync web access without any problem. so anything wrong on his system?

Lync for Mac 2011 File Transfer problems

Hello everyone,

Im not sure if this is the right location for this but I will try and hopefully get sent in the right direction.

The issue I am experiencing is that a few users on Lync for Mac 2011 (14.1.1 or lower) have issues sending and receiving files.

Sending files: Users will try to send an attachment via the Lync for Mac client and their IM window will turn completely white but the file will send to the other user. Causing them to lose the previous chat and all other chat after that unless they close and reopen the window. 

This happens to the user sending the file to another Mac user or Windows user.

Receiving files: When the Mac user receives a file it will just say "User sent file..." and give them no option to accept or decline.

Things I have done: Uninstalled Lync and reinstalled Lync. No success.

am using cisco 7945 ip phone. 2 minor issues are there with this ip phone please help me out in resolving the following issues.

1)not getting calls if we call to its extension number

2)redial is not working in first time, suppose we want to call a num from call log means we have to call that num twice.

please help me from these issues.

X600 Polycom signing in issue

Hello, so basically in my office I was trying to set my phone up to my account and settings with my number. There was a previous users info already in the phone when it was working, but when I tried switching the user and signing in with my Microsoft Lync all the phone does is login for maybe 5 seconds and then signs out with a white screen saying "Signing out ...". I also tried logging in using a conference pin just to atleast log into the phone and sometimes it would log me in for a very short amount of time with no access to make out going calls. One time after I put in my PIN number an error came back on the add phone number or extention screen saying something along the lines of a certificate. I have reset the phone and tried setting it up from scratch with no luck. If anyone can please help it would be greatly appreciated as I need this phone to make calls from my office. Thanks.

Lync 2013 - Easy way to insert internal server name onto client

A little background.  Currently only the IT dept is using Lync 2010 or Lync 2013.  We are not using Exchange(happening soon though).  Our Lync Server is only internal(again working on building an edge server).  Our Lync clients used to connect automatically with their AD name when restarting or logging into Lync. 

Last week we noticed that Lync 2013 has upgraged to Skype for Business. This made us not log into Lync until we figured out why.  We finally figured out that if we put the FQDN in the Internal Server name Lync 2013 will work again(was left blank before).  We stopped the updates from going out but a few still got it. We manually went around and fixed those Lync 2013 clients.  My question for you all is there an easy way to push the FQDN to the internal server name under Tools-->Personal-->advanced..? Looking for a script that I can have them click or some other way.

Office Lync 2010 Clients keep getting prompt for Credentials

Hi there,

We have come across one issue strange issue that office 2010 Lync clients are getting prompt to enter their credentials and upon entering the credentials the prompt keeps appearing.

The lync is working fine but this prompt keeps appearing and if we simple click cancel, the prompt goes and it appears again after sometime.

So far the lync clients such as Lync 2013, Skype 2015 and Skype 2016 doesn't to have this issue.

We have Microsoft Lync Server 2010 version.

Device non-compliant - incorrectly thinks phone is rooted

I have Skype for Business running on Android 8.1.0. The OS is LineageOS 15.1 installed from an unlocked bootloader. The ROM is not rooted, and I have not enabled root access. When I open the app it says "This app can't be used because you are using a rooted device. Contact your IT administrator for help." I have tried disabling ADB and developer options, but neither of these seem to make a difference.

How does the app check for root access, and is there a trick to get the app to recognize the device is not rooted?

Lync web app on Mac Safari

When I join a Skype meeting on Lync web app on Mac Safari I can connect, hear and speak but the presentation window is blank. I have tried re-installing the plug ins. Any suggestions appreciated.

Skype 2013 and Outlook 2013

Hello,

My Skype status is not syncing with Outlook correctly.  I did some tests. For example I set at 30 minute meeting at 8:40 for 30 mins.  i.e. meeting starts at 08:20 and finishes at 08:50)

Status changed from Available to Busy five minutes later and set to available at 08:39. I have done other tests with similar results.  Other colleagues are having similar issues.

Outlook Conversation History Folder

When trying to open a Skype for Business message that has been saved in the Outlook 2016 folder, a message box pops up that shows this:

I've been searching all morning but am not having any luck so I am hoping that I can find a solution here. Thank you.

I can't get rid of Skype for Business

I cannot find Skype for Business in my programs or anywhere.  I can only find the shortcut within the Microsoft Office 2013 folder.  I deleted Skype (reluctantly) hoping it would get rid of Skype for Business which opens automatically and cannot be closed but it did not work.  How do I get rid of it, please?
