Lync client not displaying Outlook Contact as last, first

$

Hi,

I have an issue where Lync 2010 is not displaying the correct format for the Outlook. Outlook is configured to display as last, first. When I log into Lync client and search for contact it displays it correctly as last, first. However after a couple of minutes it displays the name as first, last.

The contacts in GAL always display correctly so its only Outlook contacts that it occurs. Lync client and server have latest updates. Issue occurs on Outlook 2010 and Outloo 2003.

Cannot create Skype meeting. Outlook meeting insert Skype fails and direct invocation of Skype 'Meet Now' fails.

Hello.  Whenever I attempt to attach a Skype invitation to an Outlook meeting, I receive the following error:

"Create Skype Meeting failed. Please make sure that Skype for Business is running and signed-in and try again."

When I go to Skype and click the gear/settings icon, and then click Meet Now, I get the error:

"An error occurred during the Skype Meeting"

Clicking that link, yields a dialog box:

"An error occurred during the Skype Meeting. The action couldn't be completed. Please try again later.".

Our IT has reinstalled office. It didn't help.  It used to work on my previous Windows 7 laptop. Nothing as far as I know has changed regarding my domain setup.  However, since there is a new PC image, could something be wrong with my local settings?  The outlook plugin is enabled, so is the VBA plugin. This also occurs when invoked from Skype directly so I don't think Outlook is the issue.

I have verified that the VBA plugin for Outlook is running; though, I had to change the startup behavior to ensure this.  However, since the error occurs directly from Skype, there is probably something else wrong.

Edit - I enabled logs and receive the following logs when trying to Meet Now:

Hi,

Had a weird issue the other day where as the Lync 2010 Client would not start. I had not received any updates, but it gets to signing in and then crashes.

I've removed it and removed the Microsoft Visual 2008 C++ that comes with it and reinstalled it but I still get the error:

Microsoft Lync 2010 has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly....

When I debug it through Visual Studio, I get:

I have a client that uses the Jabra9300 with Lync.

She has all her sounds come out of that device. When she want to hear something off the internet she hears dial tone from Lync. When she then closes lync she hears nothing. I am looking to turn of the dialtone that lync provides to the headset.

DHCP scope options to support failover for IP phones in multi-pool environment

We have Polycom CX600 phones with Lync 2013 CU3 in a site resilient mutiple pool setup.   If we failover our primary site to the secondary site everything works but the phones wont register.

How do I configure the DHCP scope options to have an option to register with the backup pool.

Lync Recording - unable to save recording in .wmv format

After recording the meeting content in Lync I receive an error in the 'Status' on the Windows Media Recording (.wmv) tab in  Lync recording manager. The error states "Runtime error. Not enough storage is available to complete this operation". I can play the same recording from the Lync Recordings tab but not as a .wmv file.

I have tried to save the recording to the default location and to a custom location but no success. The computer disk has enough storage space to accommodate this.

Has anyone got an idea of what could be wrong here?

Thanks.

Lync->Skype Screen Sharing

Can we use Lync Client (with Lync Infrastructure) to connect to remote Skype users : yes

Can we then use the Skype screen sharing feature to see the remote user screen in our Lync Client : ??

Can we then CONTROL the remote Skype screen using our Lync Client : ??.

Our client does not allow the installation of binaries we are suggesting (Lync Client) and prefers a generic software I-e Skype on their end. And we want to do some troubleshooting on their machines by remote.

We looking forward to alternatives to TeamViewer that we are currently using for the same purpose.

Is there a way to keep the tabbed conversation window but disable the way the task bar breaks out each individual tab into a separate window? Having 30 conversations open makes it a pain to find which the conversation you need when it is far easier to just pick it from the tab in the conversation window.

Skype for business client 16.0.9226.2114 32 bit and missing emoticons/conversations in preview window.

Not sure if this is the best place for this,if not I can cross post to other forums :)

We were running a previous version of the client and recently ran into a problem where when you unplug your headset Skype would crash. The recommendation was to update to the latest current release.  This has resolved the problem of Skype crashing but introduced a new problem.

Emoticons do not show within preview window when typed,  Also Complete sentences are missing from the preview window.  The other end will receive the message OK and it will eventually appear within conversation history in outlook.  When the conversation issue occurs it can happen for any number of messages, Sometimes it will miss one other times it will miss 4 or 5, closing the preview window and re-opening it will resolve for a short period.

Emoticons currently never show in the preview screen.

Any one else having similar issues?  Tried a few things including completely uninstalling all Office applications and then reinstalling but same issue occurs.

Thanks.

Hello,
I would like to ask you for advice. I can not see pictures in chat rooms which send me another member. It looks like he sends me an empty message. Please, can you recommend me a program to install, which can fix my problem? Thanks

(skype for business 2016) call ended because of network connectivity issues

Skype for Business 2016 really has me pulling my hair out.
I have finally got both the web app and the desktop app working from the internet, but I cannot use it because the call is continually dropped every few seconds and I get an error: call ended because of network connectivity issues Rejoin?

I have tried from several different internet connections. What is the upload bandwidth requirements for hosting a meeting?

If not bandwidth what else could cause my meeting to keep dropping the call.

Additional information:

I am always hosting the meeting from the office connection and it never gets disconnected

Use a side loaded version of Skype with an Fire He 10

I am trying to use this app on a fire HD 10, version 7, with Google play side loaded, as I did not want to root the tablet. I tried to install the app but it does not work. It starts and then quits. I think it is having a hard time with the fact this tablet has no phone number associated with it. Most tablets do not have a phone number to connect to, unless they come with wireless capabilities. The tablet I am using only has Wi-Fi and bluetooth

Skype for Buisness through a VDI session Lync 2013 no audio device detected.

Ive done some searching in the forums for an answer I get close but not close enough so let me explain the situation, It may be out of my control.

I can use Skype for Business on my local machines just fine, audio and video works as intended.

My job requires me to use their Skype for Business (LYNC 2013). I have to log into a Citrix environment, into a VDI session. (not a true desktop, only some links to click on)

From there I click the LYNC 2013 application and after some time it logs into Skype for Business, except I don't have audio.

I cant login using the login credentials on the local machine because of a 2FA and I get blocked when reaching out to that domain. It has to be through the VDI.

This is not a corporate imaged device.

Other employees with a imaged corporate device do not have this problem.

Is it safe to assume this is an audio pass through issue? Chat works fine.

Thanks for any help provided.

Lync clients randomly showing offline but actually online still

On random days at random intervals we have most users all the sudden turn grey and say offline. If you send them a message they will still get it though so communication is not actually down. I cannot figure out what could be causing this. Is there anyone else that has had this issue? I have looked at event viewer but found nothing. Collected logs in the tracing directory but haven't been able to figure out the issue.

Polycom Group Series video resolutions in Lync conference

$

I've noticed that two Polycom Group series devices that have the Lync Interop licence installed provide good quality (1080p) video calls when making a point to point lync call but if the same two devices connect by joining a Lync conference, by joining via a calendar appointment for example, the resolution drops to 640x368

I documented my findings in a quick blog

http://1plex.co.uk/polycom-group-series-testing-lync-2013/

anyone been successful getting the devices to connect at a better resolution?

Lync for Mac 2011 File Transfer problems

Hello everyone,

Im not sure if this is the right location for this but I will try and hopefully get sent in the right direction.

The issue I am experiencing is that a few users on Lync for Mac 2011 (14.1.1 or lower) have issues sending and receiving files.

Sending files: Users will try to send an attachment via the Lync for Mac client and their IM window will turn completely white but the file will send to the other user. Causing them to lose the previous chat and all other chat after that unless they close and reopen the window.

This happens to the user sending the file to another Mac user or Windows user.

Receiving files: When the Mac user receives a file it will just say "User sent file..." and give them no option to accept or decline.

Things I have done: Uninstalled Lync and reinstalled Lync. No success.

Polycom VVX 500 and CX600 - random user log off on the phones

Hi,

We are having a weird issue at one of our customers. Setup is Lync 2013 standard onprem, one FE and one Edge, around 100 users and using 30+ VVX500 and few CX600. We are noticing random user ‘log off’ on phones and after that it does not auto login. Phone doesn’t reboot or crash, it just logs off the user and it happens to all the phones completely in random order. In the control panel device lock is disabled, we tried with BToE and without BToE, still no luck. It is totally random, sometimes it happens 3 – 4 times a day or sometimes nothing. Lync client on desktop is very stable, no sign out, nothing.

All phones are running latest firmware and no issues in making or receiving calls once logged in.

Any pointers appreciated.
