I was trying out Office 365 and installed Lync 2013. It started once successfully, I closed it and started it again, and has this problem. I get "Microsoft Lync has stopped working." This is on 64-bit Windows 8.1.

I have searched my heart out for solutions and found them ranging from disabling Bluetooth devices, re-installing graphics card drivers, using sfc, performing clean installations of Office, deleting Lync-related folders in Appdata, etc. None of these have resolved my problem. I have used the Microsoft Fixit to completely uninstall Office 2013. I am not installing the complete Office suite, only the Lync client from my Office 365 homepage. I have tried both 32 and 64-bit versions. If I install the 32-bit version, I will also get this event log entry, but I don't believe that's a problem (including it here for completeness).
