Lync and Office 2013 Home and Business 'Present PowerPoint' not working

$

Hello All,

We have an Exchange online E1 plan that includes Lync, that we have been using without problems for the last year or so.

The 'Present PowerPoint' functionality of Lync is very useful, and again it has been working without fault until now.  However, for one user who we have upgraded to Office 2013 Home and Business (from Office 2010), it no longer works when she clicks on present, select PowerPoint and select a .pptx file. She gets the following error message...

'the presentatio.ppx couldn't be converted for presentation because Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is not installed on this computer. Please install VBA and try again.'

The thing is it seems that Visual Basic for Applications is installed as a part of the Lync Basic Install. I re-installed Lync just in case, and when I clicked customize I ensured that Visual Basic for Applications was checked to install as run from the computer.

In searching online I can see plenty of other people suggesting with Office 2010 to repair the Office install, and select customize and make sure the Visual Basic for Applications is checked to install too.  However, with Office 2013 Home and Business you don't get this option - it seems all or nothing.  I have tried repairing both installs, re-installing etc with no luck

So is it that Office 2013 Home and Business incompatible with Lync or can anyone help or throw some ideas at me?

Thanks,

Andrew.

Lync 2013 adding additional person to conversations until you sign out and sign in

Have a user using Lync 2013, where when she double-clicks someone in her contact list, it starts a three person conversation between her, that person, then an additional person.  it happens for anyone she clicks, and it always adds that same 3rd person.

But if she signs out and back in to Lync, if she double-clicks those people it then only has her and that person in the conversation like it should.

How can I fix this?

Lync Mac client 14.0.9

Hello everyone,

Lync for Mac 14.0.9 has been released and is supposed to fix the issue : "Cannot join a meeting as an anonymous user in a non-federated domain in Lync for Mac 2011".

Did anyone try it ?

It seems like it still asks for credentials when connecting to the meeting, no prompt for guest credentials.
Has anyone succeeded to use the anonymous mode through Lync for mac 2011?

Stephen

how to change status colors in Lync 2013

$

Apologies all if posted in the wrong place... Being rather color blind, I simply can't see the difference between users' status easily, based on the crappy default color indication: is there a way I could change these colors or the appearance in general, so as to have a clearly visible and identifiable clue whether a user is available, busy etc. The colors from version pre-2013 were better... Using a 2013 client now. Ideally, instead of ugly-colored squares, things like maybe a(clearly) red octagon indicating people are busy ... So a combination of shape with colors which are distinguishable by most colorblind people

Thanks!

Hi,

We are having a Polycom group series 500 device and currently facing the below mentioned issue, if any one has used this device appreciate your response on this matter.

1. we have already activated the Multipoint video conferencing and Lync interoperability protocol on the device. We are able to get only a peer to peer Lync video call, Lync video conference is not allowed (we cannot add another Lync user to an ongoing Lync call)

2.

.      This device can join to a Lync video conference hosted by another user, but video and voice not working (it shows that device has joined the conference but no audio or video)

 Thanks,
Kanishka.

I'm using Lync for the Mac version 14.0.5.  Whenever the call begins my volume immediately goes to maximum.  I'm using Mac OS X 10.8.4.  Has anyone else seen this problem?  Any know how to fix it?

I originally posted this question here - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2011-macother/volume-suddenly-increases-when-a-lync-call-starts/5cc5c414-038c-49cd-b545-830887e84850 - and was directed to this forum.

The one response I got there was "Go to Lync menu > Preferences > Audio. Are any of the settings there set to maximum?"

Don't want Lync Conversations in my Outlook inbox

I am using Outlook 2010 and Lync 2010. Missed Lync conversations are currently being added to my Outlook inbox. I don't want any Lync conversations going into my Outlook inbox. I do want all Lync conversations saved in the Conversation History folder. I did not find a solution for this issue. Only options I found turns off all Lync conversations saved in Outlook and you manually saving them, and this would not work.

Anyone have a solution for this problem? Thanks!

Lync 2013 Client copy/paste text issues

$

It looks to be a consistent issue in our environment (not sure if it is just us or everyone that uses Lync 2013) where it is very difficult to select text in IMs to copy/paste.  There are many times where you want to copy a single IM -- containing the person's name who said it, the text and the date/time it was said.  In previous versions, this was not a problem at all.  With Lync 2013, it is a complete pain in the ass to be honest.  You go to select and it continuously flashes and it takes a whiz just to be able to select the text and it's not reproducable.  Many users have complained about this.  If i try to select more than one person in the copy, it generally works better - but not perfect.  I have to think this is a bug because it should not be this difficult to select text, but strangely i only found a few folks complaining in comment sections of articles stating the same thing but no real answer.   We are on Version 15.0.4623.1000.

If anyone can provide a solution to this, it would be greatly appreciated!

~Brandon

I installed Skype (after the MSN invite to do so) and now the associations have all switched to Skype and I can't see any easy way to swing things back to Lync.

 Thanks

Hi

After doing the last round of Windows updates, my Lync 2013 client doesn't want to start up. It just crashes at the beginning

Any suggestions on what to do? I've removed Lync, and installed it again. Also removed all the Lync updates that were installed from Windows Update and it still crashes on startup.

Remove pictures in Lync

I'm using Lync 2013, and even though I've changed the Options -> Personal to say that I don't want to see pictures, Lync still shows a silly cartoon picture next to people when I'm having a conversation with them, next to their name.

We're wanting to use this at work, so we really need to get rid of this as it makes the program look childish.

Does anyone know how you can get it to just show people's name just like it does in the list of people?

Lync 2013 Crashing on New Windows 7 Machine

$

I have a Windows 7 machine that I reset to factory settings, installed all updates, Office 2013, and Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard. That's it. Everything worked perfectly for a few days. This morning Lync is crashing.

Two questions. How to I diagnose why? And then how to I fix it?

I've read about 1/2 dozen threads on this and none of the solutions either apply or work.

MSFT, very frustrating. Please help. Also, please reply in plain English. I have no IT training or experience. Make it simple please.

Thank you,

Thomas Scott Oviedo, FL
