No audio in calls with specific audio device

$

I recently bought a Razer Kraken 7.1 headset which has a USB connector.
It works with all other programs such as Skype, to make phone calls. I can hear people and they can hear me, no problems.

But when I call anyone in Lync 2013, they can hear me, but I can't hear them.

I made sure my headset is set as default, and that Lync actually finds my Audio device, which it does.
When I try to play sound in Audio Device options on the Lync client, it plays them and I can hear them without problem.

But in calls, they can hear me, but I can't hear them.

Now, if I change the device settings to use customized settings, everything stops working, meaning I can't hear them, they can't hear me.

I've tried this on a PC at work which has Lync 2013 on Windows 7 (32bit), and on a PC at home which is running on Windows 8 (64bit), same problem percists.

Please help me :)

Hi,

We have one CX700 phone with old firmware version -3.5. We tried to upgrade the firmware to the latest version 4.0.7577.4451, but failed. Then we refer to Jeff's blog (http://blog.schertz.name/2012/08/lync-phone-edition-cu6-upgrade-issues/), and managed to upgrade to CU5 4.0.7577.4066 successfully. However, we found that after upgrade to 4.0.7577.4066, we cannot sign in from CX700 anymore, please find  the error message below which is shows up on the phone:

Sign-in Error

Cannot sign in. Please verify your sign-in address domain\username, and password and try again. Please verify that the domain entered USERNAME is correct.

And we cannot upgrade the firmware from 4066 to 4451 without sign in.... (very inconvenient design...)

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

Lync Sharing desktop UAC promt problem

when we are taking over a sessions through Lync 2010 (shared desktop) and we sometimes recive a UAC promt on the shared desktop, we would like to be able to type in the username and password. But it doesnt work.

Before the session was "paused" (the viewer gets a black screen with a white pause symbol).

But after changing some Group Policyes the "viewer" can see the UAC promt now. But we (the viewer) can't type the username and password.

We had the same problem during Remote Assistance before, but after changing the GPO the problem doesn't exist anymore within a remote assistance session.

Have anyone solved this issue? I think its quite common problem?

Following changes has been made in the GPO:

[Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options]

User Account Control: Allow UIAccess applications to prompt for elevation without using the secure desktop Enabled

User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode Elevate without prompting

User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for standard users Prompt for credentials

User Account Control: Only elevate UIAccess applications that are installed in secure locations Disabled

User Account Control: Switch to the secure desktop when prompting for elevation Disabled

Thanks for any help.

Can one get Lync 2013 off the TaskBar?

With Lync2010 there was an option to remove the application from the main taskbar area and display it in the right hand-side taskbar icon area only. With this set it would not appear anymore among the open applications.

With Lync2013 this option seems gone and I now always have BOTH, i.e. an active application in the main taskbar area AND an icon in the right hand side area. How can I get rid of one of them, preferably the one in the main taskbar area?

M.

BTW: what are the correct, precise names for these two taskbar areas?

Cannot log on to Lync from Mac (Yosemite)

Hi,

I just downloaded Lync, and whenever I try to log on I get a message saying "Sign in to Microsoft Lync failed because the service is not available or you may not be connected to the Internet".

I am connected to the Internet, running OS X Yosemite, and Lync has been permitted to bypass the firewall. I have tried to log on using my office 365 username and password. I am not logging on to a corporate account.

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

Best,

Jostein

Lync - incoming calls activate all sound coming through my computer speaker

Is this a bug or is there any fix or work-around?

If I have my earbuds plugged into my computer plugged into the stereo port on my laptop, listening to the music, and someone calls me my Lync client starts to ring, and the music I had playing no longer comes through my earbuds (stereo port) and instead starts playing loudly from my computer's internal speaker.

What is setup wrong here?

Our MDM vendor has ability to configure 3rd party apps on iOS7. Does lync client for iOS has needed communication dictionaries available for Managed App Configuration?

Cannot sign in to Lync error.

We are in the prosess of implementing Lync to all our employees. We have a problem for some of our users. The error message on the client is.

"Cannot sign in to Lync: Please sign out at another location and try again. You have reached the maximum number of computers or devices allowed"

We have verified that they only are singed in to one device. The ten users with the problem all have first name starting with the letter "A". I don't now if this is a  coincidence.

They can log in but get loged out whe the error appears. If they try to log in again it works after trying some time. The users get the error several times each day.

Hello Specialists,

i have a small question, how the VDI PlugIn works if you have only a External Lync Server. ??We dont have an internal envirement in our Company, but on the regkey you have to give internal and external.

Envirement:

ThinClient: Windows 7 SP1, Lync VDI Plugin 32 bit.

Citrix: Windows 2008 R2, Lync and Office 32bit.

Only External Lync Server.

In our organization we have a distribution group, which contains all users that should show up in Lync. Although this distribution group shows perfectly well in the "Groups" tab:

and each group shows all the users and its status well, the "Status" and "Relationships" tab show nobody:

How can I enable or when will there be an update allowing users in Distribution Groups be shown in Status and Relationships tabs, just like manually added users?

Thank you!

Can't Join Lync Meetings in Outlook 2013 with Lync 2013

$

Hello,

I'm having an odd problem with joining Lync meetings in Outlook 2013 using Lync 2013 and hope there is an answer out there.  When I click on Join Lync Meeting in Outlook I receive this error:

"We're sorry, but Lync has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly.  Lync will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?"

Both Outlook and Lync are 2013 32-Bit.  I tried everything including uninstalling quick and full repair of both Office and Lync.  Then I uninstalled and reinstalled both Office and Lync. Then I tried using new mail profiles under a new user account with no luck. Then I formatted the drive and did a fresh install of Windows 8 with only Office and Lync installed and it is still happening.

I can join or start the meeting if I copy and paste the Join link into IE, but I can't click through from Outlook.

I have the exact same setup on another PC that this is working fine but I never messed with anything just did default installs.

Any ideas?

How to stop Lync from starting automatically?

Hello,

I have recently installed Microsoft Office 2013 on my computer, which included an installation of the Lync client. At first it didn't seem to matter much. But after a few days I got around to fiddling around with Lync, even though I don't have a server to connect it to. From the next day on, I have a problem with the client starting itself automatically with the PC.

I have tried disabling the option in the settings, but it seems to have had no effect.

After this I researched for a few options, and tried changing the registry key. Still no effect.

What do I have to do to stop the client from starting automatically? I can't even make use of it, since I don't have a server for it.

I have Lync 2013 (I couldn't find a forum section, so I'm posting this in the 2010 forum)

Where to find MacOS 14.0.9 installer? download link brings you to the buggy 14.0.10

Does anyone know where to get the download for the Mac lync client version 14.0.9?

When you follow the link here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2963369

It only provides 14.0.10 which is very buggy and not ready for release in my opinion.

I have a copy of 14.0.7 but I'd like to be able to revert users back to 14.0.9

thank you.

Lync 2013 and problem with copy/paste from SQL Mgmt Studio.

Hi Everyone,

Recently one of ours programmers noticed a very interesting issue which is a real pain in the a## for him and his colleagues. It was all fine with Lync client 2010, problem started when moved some people to 2013 client.

When someone sends him a message with SQL Code, and he is pasting it into SQL mgmt std. he gets dashes "-" instead of spaces " ".

I thought this is a local PC issue, but:

1. On 2010 it worked, stopped all of a sudden when they changed lync client to 2013

2. They are pasting code on the SERVER not local SQL mgmt std. on their client machines

3. Even if I send him a code from Lync 2010 and he is pasting that from his 2013 client - he gets "-" dashes, so I guess it is not important from where I send the message, but from where he is copying it.

As for now, I have noticed that problem with guys from England and region of APAC - they have lync 2013 client already.

Really appreciate any help as I donot have any point where to start troubleshooting...

Cheers guys,

We have a Lync server 2013 which is been joined to say example LyncVM01.test.com; and we have other domains like test1.com,test2.com,

So when users of all the domains can able to enable in the Lync control panel, but users from test.com can able to login from anywhere by logging automatic configuration

But users from domin test1.com are unable to login with automatic configuration but can able to login by manual configuration by giving the lyncpool.test.com

But when we are giving automatic configuration its says Can’t sign in to Lync ( Lync couldn’t find a Lync Server for test1.com.There might be an issue with the Domain Name System(DNS) configuration for your domain. Please contact your support team.
